Harmonies of Political Economy
The book Bastiat was writing when he died, and the one he considered his real work — The Law was the pamphlet he dashed off beside it. The argument is that free exchange produces an order nobody designed, and that the apparent conflicts of interest between classes, trades and nations dissolve under examination. Unfinished, uneven, and the fullest statement of the position the pamphlet only asserts.
