Memoir of a Revolutionary

The second and third volumes of Djilas’s autobiography, combined into one book and published in 1973. It picks up where Land Without Justice left off and carries him from a Montenegrin youth into the Communist Party, through prison under the royal dictatorship and into the revolutionary underground. Translated and edited by Drenka Willen. The Hoover papers hold the original English version as an annotated typescript of 1972 with a photocopy beside it, and file the autobiography under three titles at once because the second volume was drafted as Rebellious Youth before being folded into this book.

Rights
In copyright — do not store. Djilas died in 1995, so nothing of his is free before 2066 under life plus seventy, and a work published in the United States before 1978 runs for 95 years from publication besides. Held as a catalogue record with a citation. WHO HOLDS THE RIGHTS IS AN OPEN QUESTION. The finding aid’s terms of access say only "For copyright status, please contact the Hoover Institution Library & Archives," and Hoover’s own policy makes the researcher "responsible for compliance with copyright law," including "identifying the copyright owner." No public record found names an estate, an executor or an agent for Djilas.
