Montenegro (Crna Gora)

Djilas on his own country: a book about Montenegro, its people and its wars, translated into English by Kenneth Johnstone with a preface by William Jovanovich. The Hoover papers hold annotated typescripts in both Serbo-Croat and English. An excerpt appeared separately as The Eve of Battle, whose United States copyright renewal is recorded as RE511836.

Rights
In copyright — do not store. Djilas died in 1995, so nothing of his is free before 2066 under life plus seventy, and a work published in the United States before 1978 runs for 95 years from publication besides. Held as a catalogue record with a citation. WHO HOLDS THE RIGHTS IS AN OPEN QUESTION. The finding aid’s terms of access say only "For copyright status, please contact the Hoover Institution Library & Archives," and Hoover’s own policy makes the researcher "responsible for compliance with copyright law," including "identifying the copyright owner." No public record found names an estate, an executor or an agent for Djilas.
