The Unperfect Society: Beyond the New Class (Nesavršeno društvo)
The sequel to The New Class, and the more interesting book of the two for anyone who wants to know where Djilas ended up rather than where he started. Having described the party bureaucracy as a class that owns nothing and controls everything, he turns here to what might follow it, and to what he had concluded about revolution itself. Published in 1969, three years after he was let out of prison and a year after the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia found him a visiting professor at Princeton. His criticism of that invasion cost him his passport for the next eighteen years.

- Rights
- In copyright — do not store. Djilas died in 1995, so nothing of his is free before 2066 under life plus seventy, and a work published in the United States before 1978 runs for 95 years from publication besides. Held as a catalogue record with a citation. WHO HOLDS THE RIGHTS IS AN OPEN QUESTION. The finding aid’s terms of access say only "For copyright status, please contact the Hoover Institution Library & Archives," and Hoover’s own policy makes the researcher "responsible for compliance with copyright law," including "identifying the copyright owner." No public record found names an estate, an executor or an agent for Djilas.
