Wartime
Djilas’s account of the partisan war: the fighting against the German and Italian occupation of Yugoslavia, the civil war waged alongside it, and the killing among Yugoslavs that the official history did not describe. He was there as a partisan commander and a member of the leadership. Published in English in 1977. Box 8 holds the correspondence, annotated typescript fragments and a list of corrections from 1975 to 1978.

- Rights
- In copyright — do not store. Djilas died in 1995, so nothing of his is free before 2066 under life plus seventy, and a work published in the United States before 1978 runs for 95 years from publication besides. Held as a catalogue record with a citation. WHO HOLDS THE RIGHTS IS AN OPEN QUESTION. The finding aid’s terms of access say only "For copyright status, please contact the Hoover Institution Library & Archives," and Hoover’s own policy makes the researcher "responsible for compliance with copyright law," including "identifying the copyright owner." No public record found names an estate, an executor or an agent for Djilas.
